Adult Probation
Probation, more formally referred to as Community Control, is an alternative to incarceration. This means that if you are convicted of a criminal offense or a serious traffic offense, the Judge may sentence you to probation or a combination of community-based sanctions, rather than jail, provided that incarceration for the specific offence is not mandated by law. The Judge’s sentencing decisions are guided by a number of factors set forth in the Ohio Revised Code.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Gallipolis Municipal Court Probation Department is to:
- effectively and efficiently supervise and monitor all persons placed under its control by the Court;
- insure accountability and compliance with all Court orders and conditions of probation;
- enforce the orders of the Court in a fair and impartial manner as to provide an element of public safety in the community;
